Massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints. The goal of massage is to develop and maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. Registered Massage therapists* are trained in the principles of anatomy, physiology, pathology, massage theory and practical uses of massage. They are also versed in stretching techniques, remedial exercise and gentle mobilization.
*All therapists at A Healing Touch are professionally trained (or students pursuing professional training) and registered with accredited Massage Therapy Associations. Registered Massage Therapists can provide receipts for reimbursement through many health care insurance benefit plans. Please check with your health care insurance provider to confirm your coverage.
STUDENT THERAPISTS: A Healing Touch has 1st and 2nd year massage therapy students. These students offer massage at a reduced rate, but are not eligible for reimbursement through some insurance providers. Please check with your provider to confirm coverage.

RAPID Upper Body Adhesion Release

Prenatal Massage

Using a specially designed massage pillow, clients are able to lay on their stomach while receiving a massage. Therapists are also trained in induction massage which is used to bring on labour naturally in women that are over 37 weeks. Most normal low-risk pregnancies can receive massage with no problem. If you have conditions such as pre-eclampsia, eclampsia or severe edema massage may not be advised. Clients are encouraged to check with their doctor in advance.
Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

Deep Tissue laser therapy is a surgery-free, drug-free, pain-free therapy that can be used in conjunction with your massage or as an independent treatment to speed healing. Some of the most immediate results are experienced when treating recent injuries to reduce pain and speed up recovery. It is also used for pain management for those experiencing chronic pain. A Healing Touch has had clients reporting improvements following the treatment of conditions such as arthritis, carpal tunnel, tendinitis (golfers and tennis elbow), herniated discs, hip degeneration, knee swelling, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff and wounds.

Thai Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of massage that applies pressure to areas of the feet, hands or ears. Itis a natural therapeutic method derived from the theory that areas of the feet, hands and ears correspond and map to other systems, glands and organs of the body. Some of the benefits can include relaxation; improvement of nerve functions; improvement of brain power/clarity; increased blood circulation; elimination of toxins in the body; boost metabolism and energy levels; reduces stress and anxiety; improves mood and general well being and so much more. Unlike other therapies which manipulate bones or muscle tissues, reflexology can provide much needed relief through working the body reflex that ails you through a part of the body that does not.

Thai massage is an interactive form of massage that uses gentle pressure, flowing movements, stretches and rhythmic massage to relax the whole body. Thai massage is done on the floor and you are fully clothed throughout. Wear comfortable clothing.
Rain Drop Massage

Raindrop massage uses a sequence of essential oils that are immune enhancing, supporting the body’s natural defenses. The oils are dispersed in little drops and massaged along the spine.
Myofascial Cupping + Massage

Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue therapy that encourages healing by creating a negative pressure or suction on the skin using plastic cups that pull up underlying tissues, blood and other fluids close to the surface of the skin.
Rock Tape

When RockTape is manufactured, a bias is introduced into the weave of the fabric so it stretches in one direction and not the other. This creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism that lifts the skin away from the soft tissue underneath, which allows more blood to move into an injured area to accelerate healing and recovery.
When applied properly, Rocktape can help athletes improve form and decrease fatigue through better blood flow. These are the two most critical aspects of increasing performance in almost any sport. Rocktape is a natural-hybrid product and consists of 97% cotton, 3% nylon and uses no drugs. The adhesive is a hypoallergennic acrylic based adhesive and contains no latex.
Reiki

Body Talk

BodyTalk is a consciousness based health care modality that helps with pain and stress. During sessions I am able to use my intuition and find the underlying beliefs and issues going on within your body on the consciousness level. There are many doctors and therapists that can help with our physical, spiritual, mental and emotional bodies, but only BodyTalk practitioners are able to fix the consciousness part of it all. During a session the practitioner will basically talk to your body consciousness and receive yes/no responses through your nervous system. Practitioners do not diagnose or prescribe medications to clients. They are simply unwinding all of the knots twisted up so that your body can heal itself. It is a noninvasive process as a hand is simply placed on your stomach or hand.
